时尚就是“身体化”的时尚。与此相应，它要求一种从身体出发的时尚研究，而不是以往那种从心灵出发的时尚研究。实际上，也只有真正从身体出发才能真正揭示时尚与身体的存在本性。由此，本书的研究包括四部分：“时尚与身体”（从时尚与身体的历史关联出发，追溯时尚的“身体化”历程）；“身体与美丽”（考察时尚中的身体如何在历史中呈现为美丽？）；“身体与解放”（批判在当代身体实践中，时尚的身体究竟意味着什么？）；“身体与生成”（从身体出发思考时尚与身体的生成的问题）。
齐志家教授的著作《时尚与身体美学研究》将时尚与身体的关系形成了专门化的课题，并从身体出发探讨了时尚的奥秘。这可以说把握了时尚的关键之所在。
