本书从“概念”、“态度”和“篇章”三个层面来研究“把”字句在现代汉语语篇中的意义及其在英语语篇中的表达形式。研究的基本路径是“提出假设-实证研究-得出结论”。主要结论包括：1）“概念”层面上，各种类型的“把”字句形成了一个表达致使情境的连续统；英语中可以表达致使义的句式很好多样，其中很常见的句式包括SVO、SVOA以及SVOC。2）“态度”层面上，“把”字句体现为一种评价资源，主要用来放大说话者的态度；在英语中这种语用功能可以通过”直接评价词汇”，“态度突显词汇”及“很好规句型”等手段来实现。3）“篇章”层面上，“把”字句中的主语是主要话题，宾语是次要话题。二者在语篇中多为链中话题，有承上启下的衔接作用。此外，本研究还通过发掘“把”字句表达致使义的认知语义特征，来解释其意义的独特性。

王蕾，女，1982年生，现于上海海事大学外国语学院任教。讲师，硕士生导师，上海海事大学第十一批骨干教师培养对象，上海海事大学英汉对比与应用研究所研究员。2010年毕业于上海交通大学外国语学院，获外国语言学及应用语言学博士学位。研究兴趣包括英汉对比与翻译、语言类型学、语篇分析等。已在《外语教学与研究》、《中国语文》等学术期刊上发表论文数篇，曾多次赴美国、中国香港、台湾地区地区地区参加语言学靠前会议，并宣读论文。目前主持上海市哲学社会科学规划青年课题一项。
