《大学英语阅读教程》与“新思路大学英语”这一系列的其他教材（包括基础教程、读写译教程和视听说教程）配合使用，共四册。本书按照新颁布的四六级考试新题型要求，从历史地理、文化、科普、故事、社会等类别精选本书的阅读材料，力图使学生对大学英语四、六级的阅读材料有全面深入的了解。材料的选择和难度严格按照依据教育部颁发《大学英语教学大纲》一级的要求，遵循理论与实践相结合的原则，讲练结合，分为两大部分：（1）阅读技巧讲解；（2）阅读综合技能训练。本书是靠前册第三版。
