《测量学》共分13章。第一章至第四章为土木工程测量的基本知识、测量的基本工作和测量仪器的使用方法；第五章介绍测量误差的基本知识；第六章为小地区控制测量，包括GPS原理简介；第七章、第八章为地形图的基本知识及其在土木工程中的应用、大比例尺地形图测绘方法；第九章至第十三章为土木工程施工测量，包括施工测量的基本工作，工业与民用建筑施工测量，线路勘测，道路曲线测设方法，线路（管道、道路、桥梁、隧道）施工测量。
《测量学》可作为普通高等学校土木工程、环境工程、建筑学、城市规划等各专业教材，也可供有关工程技术人员参考。

初汉平，原青岛海洋大学外国语学院教授。精通英语、俄语。语言基础坚实，知识渊博。曾担任校教学评估专家委员和《高教研究》编委工作，发表有关语言理论和教学方法的论文近十篇。退休后进入美国社会生活，并受邀主持华人活动中心的英语教学工作。
